视频简介
Sunday Challenge: Crack the code. 🕵️♂️ If A=1, B=2, C=3... Z=26 — which card am I thinking of? The answer to last weeks Sunday Challenge: The answer is 15. To figure out why, first count the cogs in the gears. The largest one has 12 teeth, the middle one has 10 and the smallest has 8. Next, look for the smallest number divisible by all three of those numbers. You can use brute force like we did or if you’re fancy you can use prime factorization. Either way, we get 120. Since we’re focused on the smallest cog, we divide 120 by 8 and wind up with 15. If we rotate the small cog completely 15 times, the middle cog (10 teeth) will tum exactly 12 times and the large cog (15 teeth) will turn exactly 10 times. Thus, they will all wind up back in the same position they started after exactly 15 turns of the small wheel.
